School Council

What We Do

School Council helps to provide a link between the community and school administration. This means we play a role in advising on school programs, field trips, policies, school calendars, conflict resolution, school growth planning, etc. We also advocate on behalf of the school, for example we have raised issue with teacher housing, and hiring policies for communities, and most recently supported teachers enrolled in distant education programs. Council can be a source of funding for the school, examples include: special programs, equipment, field trips, awards, etc. To support school programming, school council puts on a fundraiser every year. Funding is provided on a teacher request and council review process. We also provide a graduation bursary to grade 12 students who write to us describing their post graduation plans.
